A Note From Our Juror, Jake Allee

I miss Texas and all the clay people that come with it.  The Texas Clay Arts Association gave me one of my first gigs demoing at an event put on in 2002.  That was a big break for me and it led to a meeting lot of good people as well as having a lot of good times.  Ten years later, I think the state has one of the strongest and open clay communities in our country and TCAA does a great job of being a catalyst for the culture that comes along with it.  I would like to thank Jennifer Quarles for all of the energy she has put into TCAA over the last few years and say that I am honored to have this opportunity.    Doing this was harder than I expected.  There are a bunch of folks I know in there that make work I have enjoyed for years.   In the end, I chose some people who I don’t have much experience with other than looking at their work.  I hope this mixes things up a little. I have to say that all of the work was high quality, but that’s a pretty good representation of Texas. Always remember to have fun with it, and I hope to see y’all at the TCAA reception at NCECA this year!!!    -JAKE
